The Oyo State Government has started compensating property owners affected by developmental projects in the Ajia Inukan LCDA, Ona Ara Local Government area.
During a meeting with the claimants on Monday, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, disclosed that the government has earmarked N513,462,446.50 for compensation. The affected properties were acquired for the construction of an Air Force Base, General Hospital, and ICT center.
Akin-Funmilayo emphasized that the compensation is a key step in maintaining a positive relationship between the government and the local residents. He also mentioned that the government had previously conducted an identification and verification exercise for the property owners, ensuring their properties were fairly valued for compensation.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Adedokun Olalekan, expressed his gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his concern and support for the people of Oyo State.
