Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has threatened to reveal alleged misconduct by Governor Godwin Obaseki if the governor’s supporters continue to insult him.
Shaibu, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), issued this warning during a press briefing after attending Sunday Mass at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area.
Having endured Obaseki’s actions for over 15 months, Shaibu expressed that the governor’s recent behavior had prompted him to consider exposing alleged wrongdoings. He claimed that Obaseki had mistaken his previous silence for weakness and now intends to disclose various alleged misdeeds by the governor.
Shaibu emphasized the importance of accountability in governance and criticized Obaseki’s leadership. He accused the governor of undermining the principles of servant leadership through actions such as attacking the church, revoking Certificates of Occupancy from the poor, demolishing opposition politicians’ homes, and other injustices.
Additionally, Shaibu urged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to remain politically neutral and oppose any forms of injustice, advocating for the Christian community to be a source of hope and integrity, free from political bias.
