The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully apprehended two cattle rustlers, two notorious gunrunners, and three kidnapping suspects in a series of operations across the state. The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday, August 25, 2024.

According to Hassan, the police operatives also thwarted a kidnapping attempt and recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle along with ammunition. The successful operations were carried out following credible intelligence reports.

On Thursday, police raided a hideout in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama, Kaduna, used by a notorious syndicate involved in cattle rustling. During the raid, the police arrested two suspects, Aminu Saleh, 25, and Jafar Ibrahim, 24, who later confessed to their involvement in the crime. They also revealed the names of four other syndicate members who are currently at large.

In a separate incident on the same day, a man named Shafiu Abdullahi reported to Operation Fushin Kada that he had been receiving threatening phone calls demanding ₦10 million. The callers threatened to kidnap him if the ransom was not paid. The Tracking and Response Team quickly intervened, using advanced techniques to locate and arrest the suspects, identified as Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkarim, all residents of Soba and Kajuru Local Government Areas.

On Saturday, the police also arrested two suspects involved in supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating in Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara States. The suspects, Dahiru Liman, 47, and Sani Abdullahi Makeri, 45, were apprehended with a fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition. Both suspects confessed to their long-term involvement in illegal activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. He reassured the residents that the command is committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in Kaduna State.
