Governor Godwin Obaseki has declared the upcoming September 21 Edo governorship election as a “do or die” affair, following the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) refusal to sign the Peace Accord. Obaseki expressed concerns over the involvement of police, whom he accused of working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and arresting PDP members without evidence.
During a meeting with former military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, Obaseki alleged that the APC plans to use federal power to influence the election outcome. At the grand finale of the PDP’s campaign, he urged voters to choose the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, warning against insecurity and poor leadership.
Meanwhile, top APC leaders, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, were present for the grand finale of Senator Monday Okpebholo’s campaign in Edo State.
