Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has addressed critics who doubted his ability to handle the German giants, following his appointment after Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League. Many believed the job was too big for him, given his struggle to keep Burnley in the top flight.
Kompany, who began his coaching career at Anderlecht and later helped Burnley secure promotion to the Premier League, responded to the skepticism after Bayern’s impressive performances, including a 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.
The 38-year-old former Manchester City captain remarked, “I was born in Brussels, my dad was a refugee from Congo. What were my chances of playing in the Premier League, winning trophies, and now coaching? The odds were almost zero, but that didn’t stop me.”
He emphasized that self-belief and perseverance are key, regardless of external doubts. “You can either listen to others or keep pushing forward. If you fail, you fail; if you succeed, you succeed—but you always get better.”
Under Kompany, Bayern Munich currently leads the Bundesliga, and his early success is silencing the doubters.
