The Court of Appeal in Abuja has overturned the orders issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, which had barred three prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from attending the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.

The PDP leaders affected by this decision include former National Chairman Uche Secondus, former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia, and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Austin Opara.

In separate unanimous rulings on Friday, a three-judge panel of the Court of Appeal upheld the appeals of Secondus, Omehia, and Opara, stating that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction over the issue. The appellate court ruled that disputes regarding attendance at party meetings and internal party activities fall solely under the party’s purview and are not subject to judicial review.

The Court of Appeal also nullified the proceedings and restraining orders issued by Justice Ekwo on April 5, declaring them invalid.
