Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has shared his views on why he believes Arsenal may struggle to win the UEFA Champions League this season. Hargreaves identified two main factors contributing to his skepticism:

  1. Lack of Experience: Hargreaves pointed out that Arsenal’s squad lacks significant experience at the Champions League level. Aside from a few experienced players like Jorginho and Gabriel Jesus, the team does not have many players with extensive exposure to the high-pressure environment of the Champions League. Hargreaves believes this inexperience could be a major hurdle for Arsenal’s success in the tournament.
  2. Squad Depth Concerns: Hargreaves expressed doubts about Arsenal’s squad depth, suggesting that the team might not have enough quality and depth to maintain a strong Champions League campaign. He drew parallels with Paris Saint-Germain, who, despite their significant investments, have struggled to secure the title. Hargreaves cautioned that the fierce competition in the Champions League, combined with Arsenal’s current squad depth, could pose challenges.

Hargreaves acknowledged that Arsenal has potential and could achieve success in other competitions, but he emphasized that the intensity of the Champions League and the team’s current limitations might hinder their chances. He reflected on Arsenal’s recent quarter-final exit from the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich, noting that it takes time for teams to build the experience and depth needed for Champions League success.
