A fire has ravaged a section of a three-storey building at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, off Wempco Road in Ogba.

The incident occurred early Friday morning, with distress calls reaching the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) at approximately 2:39 a.m. Dr. Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed the outbreak and detailed the response.

LASEMA’s response team, deployed from the Alausa command center, found that one of the two-bedroom flats on the third floor was engulfed in flames. The fire, which originated from the children’s room due to a power surge, was swiftly contained thanks to coordinated efforts by the agency, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities. However, the fire completely destroyed the children’s bedroom and caused property damage estimated in the millions of naira. Following the incident, LASEMA has advised residents on the safe use of electrical appliances.
