The prices of key food items have dropped in Taraba State as farmers harvest their crops, according to a Weekend Trust survey. The price of newly harvested maize has fallen from N60,000 to N40,000 per 100kg bag, and a measure now costs between N1,000 and N1,150. Prices of yam, groundnut, cassava, and other staples have also decreased, with yam prices dropping to N5,000–N6,000 for four medium tubers. However, locally processed rice remains unchanged, selling at N167,000 per 100kg bag. Residents expressed relief but noted that incomes are still insufficient to meet food needs.
