Yunusa Tanko, a chieftain of the Labour Party, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being responsible for Nigeria’s problems, not Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate. This response follows remarks made by APC spokesperson Felix Morka, who accused Obi of inciting public dissatisfaction with the country.
Tanko expressed disbelief at Morka’s comments, questioning why APC continues to shift blame while the country grapples with various challenges. He pointed to rising prices of essential commodities, such as rice, and criticized the government’s handling of public salaries, which he claimed have not been paid despite promises of increases.
Tanko also highlighted the poor condition of infrastructure, particularly roads in the eastern region, and questioned the government’s priorities in projects such as the proposed Calabar to Lagos road. He further accused the APC of being complicit in the country’s security issues, pointing to recent attacks by bandits in Zamfara and Katsina, with even the bandits themselves allegedly accusing the government of sponsoring their activities.
Tanko concluded by stating that the challenges facing the education sector, including unaffordable school fees, are not a result of Peter Obi’s actions, but rather the failure of the current administration. He urged APC to stop misleading Nigerians.
