Several chieftains of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Niger State have distanced themselves from Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s leadership, dramatically burning the iconic Kwankwasiya red caps.
During a North Central Zonal meeting in Minna, Dr. Gilbert Agbo, the factional National Chairman, declared that Kwankwaso’s suspension by the party’s National Working Committee in Lagos invalidated his role and influence within the NNPP. Agbo also criticized Kwankwaso’s faction for being a threat to the party’s survival.
Agbo further revealed that Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf of Kano State may face disciplinary action for violating party rules. However, Mallam Danladi Umar Abdulhamid, leader of the Kwankwasiya Movement in Niger, dismissed Agbo’s authority, asserting that Kwankwaso remains the party’s national leader under Dr. Ahmed Ajuji’s leadership.
