President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom as part of his annual leave. He left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, with top officials, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, present to bid him farewell.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, indicated that Tinubu would use this period for a working vacation and reflection on his administration’s economic reforms. He is expected to return to Nigeria after the leave period.
In related news, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has called on President Tinubu to consider hiring military contractors to assist in combating Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State, following a recent attack by the group that resulted in the deaths of six farmers and the abduction of five others. Ndume emphasized that while the military and Civilian JTF have performed commendably, they may require additional support to effectively eliminate the remaining insurgents and bandits in the northern region.
