The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against President Bola Tinubu for his failure to reverse the recent petrol price hike and to investigate alleged corruption within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, also names the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and the NNPCL as respondents.

SERAP is urging the court to compel Tinubu to reduce the price of petrol from ₦845 to ₦600 per liter and to probe allegations of corruption involving a $300 million bailout fund and a $6 billion debt owed to suppliers by the NNPCL. A hearing date has not yet been set.
