Popular South African rapper Malome Vector has died in a car accident. Ambitiouz Entertainment, Vector’s record label, confirmed the tragic news in a social media post on Thursday evening.

Vector was traveling with musical collaborators Puleng Phoofolo and Lizwi Wokuqala when the accident occurred in the Free State on Wednesday evening. Two others with injuries were transported to Boitumelo Regional Hospital.

“With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a shining beacon; the Lion of Lesotho’s sun has set. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and industry peers during this time of profound loss,” the post read.

A report by the Free State Department of Health stated, “Three men were declared dead at the scene of an accident on the N1 near the Koppies turn-off close to Kroonstad.”

In related news, Nigerian music executive and CEO of Mavin Records, Micheal Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has explained why he does not allow his artists to release music on the same day as their colleagues Wizkid and Asake.

Mavin Records, which boasts stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy, takes a strategic approach to release schedules. In an interview with Nigerian YouTuber Fisayo Fosudo’s podcast, Jazzy said that releasing music on the same day as Wizkid or Asake would be suicidal, and he opts to postpone his artist’s new project releases to a later date.
