The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to assemble at their camp in Uyo today, September 2, 2024, as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced a 23-man squad for the qualifiers last Tuesday. Key players such as Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Victor Boniface, Samuel Chukwueze, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are expected to join the camp today following their recent league matches.

Also arriving are Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi, Ola Aina, South Africa-based goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, Olisa Ndah, Victor Osimhen, former Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, and Semilogo Ajayi.

Late arrivals may include Maduka Okoye, Raphael Onyedika, and Kelechi Iheanacho, who were involved in matches for their clubs on Sunday.

The Super Eagles will be guided by NFF’s Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen, after German coach Bruno Labbadia declined the offer due to tax-related issues. NFF President Ibrahim Gusau explained that Labbadia opted out after the federation could not cover his tax responsibilities in Germany.
