Support staff at Warri Refinery & Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPCL) are set to resume their protest on August 19, 2024, citing dissatisfaction with their working conditions and pay.

In an open letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the workers criticized the NNPCL management for not addressing their grievances. Their demands include improved remuneration and a fair review of their conditions of service, which they claim have been ignored since 2015.

The protest is also prompted by a recent recruitment notice favoring younger candidates, which the staff argue is an attempt to exclude those who have served for over a decade. The letter highlights their lack of benefits compared to other NNPCL staff and their ongoing struggle for better conditions.
