Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is set to appear in Federal High Court on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, to respond to charges of money laundering involving ₦80.2 billion. This court appearance, after numerous missed sessions, is viewed as his “last opportunity” to enter a plea on the 19-count charges levied by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bello’s continued avoidance of court dates and a prior arrest warrant issued in April escalated tensions, culminating in a standoff with security forces. His media aide insists that Bello has “nothing to hide,” but sources suggest Wednesday’s session is critical for his legal defense.
