The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has denied allegations that Seaman Abbas Haruna was detained for six years, as claimed by his wife, Hussaina Iliya. Hussaina had accused Brig. Gen. A.S. Adamu of ordering her husband’s detention since 2018. The accusation gained widespread attention, prompting Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle to call for an investigation.

Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, dismissed the claims, stating that Haruna was never under arrest and that an investigation is ongoing. He assured that the public would be informed once the investigation is complete.
