On Wednesday, the Federal Government established a sub-committee to address the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) demands. This move follows a closed-door meeting at the Ministry of Education in Abuja, which lasted two and a half hours and involved ASUU leadership, Education Minister Tahir Mamman, and ministry officials.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to reconvene on September 6, 2024. Minister Mamman announced that the sub-committee will work to resolve outstanding issues and clarify any ambiguities in ASUU’s demands.

ASUU President Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke expressed optimism that the matters would be settled before the next meeting. He emphasized the union’s commitment to protecting students’ interests through a fair resolution of their concerns.
