Germany has executed its first deportation of Afghan nationals back to Afghanistan since the Taliban’s takeover in August 2021. This move comes as Berlin faces increasing pressure to address migration issues.

Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit announced that the deported individuals were Afghan nationals who had been convicted of crimes and had no legal right to remain in Germany. Deportation orders had previously been issued for these individuals.
