The Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, has launched a significant initiative to remodel, reconstruct, and equip nine general hospitals that have been neglected for over 20 years. This project aims to revitalize healthcare infrastructure across the state, with a particular focus on the General Hospital in Maigana, located in Soba Local Government Area.

Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi, the Acting Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Implementation, and Results Delivery, announced this development, highlighting that the initiative seeks to address long-standing disparities in healthcare access and quality across different regions of Kaduna State. The hospitals selected for this transformative effort are strategically distributed across the state’s three senatorial zones to ensure equitable development.

The hospitals undergoing remodeling include:

  • Zone 1: General Hospital Ikara, General Hospital Maigana (Soba LGA), and General Hospital Saminaka (Lere LGA).
  • Zone 2: General Hospital Rigasa (Igabi LGA), General Hospital Giwa (Giwa LGA), and General Hospital Sabon Tasha (Chikun LGA).
  • Zone 3: General Hospital Gwantu (Sanga LGA), Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Hospital (Kafanchan, Jema’a LGA), and General Hospital Kachia (Kachia LGA).

This initiative is not just about physical improvements but also involves equipping these hospitals with modern medical technology to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes. The project reflects Governor Sani’s commitment to equitable leadership and the balanced development of healthcare infrastructure throughout Kaduna State.

As the remodeling progresses, the state government remains committed to transparency and community engagement, ensuring that the public is informed and involved in the transformation of their healthcare facilities. The initiative represents a significant step toward rebuilding and strengthening Kaduna’s healthcare system, ultimately fostering a healthier and more resilient population.
