Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, has secured a victory at the polling unit of his rival, Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP), during the Edo State governorship election. At Polling Unit 11, Ward 06 in Oredo LGA, Ighodalo garnered 41 votes, surpassing Akpata’s 32 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, came third with 19 votes.
Confident of a sweeping victory, Ighodalo predicted a landslide win and expressed concerns over alleged vote-buying and attempts to undermine the election process. He urged the electorate to turn out and cast their votes, while acknowledging the efforts of the military in ensuring security. Despite minor incidents, Ighodalo remains optimistic that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will deliver a free and fair election.
