Kamala Harris has decided to forgo an expected address at Howard University as her campaign continues to monitor vote counts in critical battleground states. Campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond informed supporters that Vice President Harris would not be speaking tonight, urging patience as final votes come in.
“We still have votes to count and states that haven’t been called yet,” Richmond told attendees. “We will fight overnight to ensure every vote is counted, and every voice is heard. You will hear from the vice president tomorrow.”
This announcement followed projections indicating a narrowing lead for former President Donald Trump, who has secured 248 Electoral College votes to Harris’s 213, with several states, including Georgia and North Carolina, projected in his favor. Trump is also leading by small margins in pivotal states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Arizona—states that could determine the election outcome.
To win, Harris’s campaign will need strong turnout from urban areas, particularly Milwaukee, Detroit, and Philadelphia. However, the final counts may extend for several days due to the tight margins and ongoing counts in states like Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
