Ike Chioke, the former President of the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria, has stated that the ongoing currency reforms by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have created both challenges and opportunities for the investment banking industry. Speaking at the Investment Banking Awards Night in Lagos, Chioke highlighted the impact of the free-floating of the naira and the removal of fuel subsidies on various sectors of the economy. Despite the challenges in implementing these reforms, he emphasized that they have brought forth significant opportunities for investment banking, which plays a crucial role in Nigeria’s economy. The awards night recognized outstanding performances in the Debt Capital Market and Equity Capital Markets categories, with Chapel Hill Denham Advisory Limited and StanbicIBTC Capital Limited among the winners.
