Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has congratulated Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly over his victory at the election petition tribunal on Saturday, Sept.30, 2023.

The Governor congratulated the Speaker when he visited him at his residence in Lafia today Sunday.

Gov. Sule, who expressed gratitude to God for the victory, urged the Speaker to be magnanimous in victory and embrace all in the interest of a peaceful House of Assembly and the development of the State.

The governor said those who go to the tribunal because they are dissatisfied with outcomes of elections are within their rights as obtainable under democratic dispensation.

Responding, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, Speaker of the State legislature appreciated the Governor for the visit.

Balarabe also thanked Governor Sule for his consistent support and show of solidarity.

The Speaker said he is grateful to God and bears no grudge whatsoever against his opponents.

He said he appreciated that his opponent is driven by desire to serve his people.

Abdullahi assured that he was prepared to work with all for the benefit of his constituency and the people of the State.

The Speaker also applaud the Governor for his development strides in the State and wish him success at the tribunal which judgement is bild for tomorrow Monday.

Abdullahi assured the Governor of his determination to continue to synergize with him for the overall development of the state

It would be recalled that on Sept. 30 2023, the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, has affirmed the election of the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who represent Umaisha/Ugya State constituency.

The three member panel led by Justice Francisca Isong Nnang on Saturday in Lafia re-affirmed the election of the Speaker.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Umaisha/Ugya, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad and his party the PDP had challenged the Speaker’s victory at the tribunal

The judge said that the petitioners failed to proof the allegations of over voting as well as failed to proof beyond reasonable doubt over non compliance to electoral act during the election.

The Judge awarded N200,000 each in favour of first and second respondents, Balarabe Abdullahi and APC against the petitioner Abdullahi Sa’ad.
