The Federal Government has ordered the reopening of secondary schools on August 4th for students in exit classes.

This is to enable the students sit for the WAEC examinations which are scheduled to start on August 17th.

A statement from the Federal Ministry of Education signed by the Director of Press Ben Bem Goong stated that the students will have only two weeks to prepare for their examinations.

The statement explained that the decision was taken after a virtual meeting of stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Education, State Commissioners of Education, Proprietors of private schools, Parent/Teachers Associations.

It further stated that discussions would be held with authorities of the National Examinations Council (NECO), National Board for Technical Education and other examination bodies to agree on dates for their respective examinations
